Mary Stovall Obituary

Mary Jean McNabb Stovall ROXBORO, NC - Mary Jean McNabb Stovall, 76, of Roxboro, NC and Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC, on the 17th of May, 2022. Born November 7, 1945 in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late William Frank McNabb and Frances Williams McNabb. Mary Jean was a caring and giving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 54 years, Jim Stovall, and two daughters, Jeannie Stovall of Washington, D.C. and Isle of Palms, SC and Ruth Edmonds of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren: Nolan, Campbell and Parker Musslewhite of Washington, D.C. and Mason Edmonds of Charleston, SC; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Glenda Stovall of Roxboro, NC; four nephews, Glenn Stovall (Carla), Gil Stovall (Diana) of Roxboro, NC, Alan Stovall (Morgan) of Durham, NC and Matt Beard (Jeannie) of Chattanooga, TN; and niece, Wendy McNair of Clarkesville, GA. She was predeceased by her sister, Renee Beard of Snellville, GA. Mary Jean lived most of her childhood in her beloved Charleston, SC. She was a graduate of James Island High School in Charleston and Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC with a degree in interior design. In Roxboro she was a longtime member of the Garden Study Club and Long Memorial United Methodist Church. Mary Jean was happiest when surrounded by her family, her friends, her pets and when she was walking and shelling on any and all beaches. To all who knew her, Mary Jean was a kind and true friend-- a beautiful soul inside and out. Her smile and goodness will be missed. Her family is so very grateful for the exceptional care she received at both the Duke Medical Center and Duke Hospice-Hock Family Pavilion. Honoring Mary Jean's request, no services will be held.
