Mary Ragin Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Culler Ragin MARIETTA, GA - Mary Elizabeth Culler Ragin, 89, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on Friday May 10, 2024. Born in Columbia, SC, August 29, 1934, daughter of the late Michael Salley Culler and the late Ernestine Peele Culler. She graduated from Columbia High School and attended The University of South Carolina. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi social sorority, Sigma Alpha Sigma honorary sorority and a Literary Society at the University. She married Robert W. Ragin on September 9, 1954, in Columbia, SC. She was an executive level secretary and supported her husband attending the University of South Carolina. In 1966, the family moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC, where they joined Hibben United Methodist, and she was very active in Mt. Pleasant Garden Club. The family later joined Eastbridge Presbyterian Church (PCA). She was a gifted gardener and flower arranger and loved sharing her gifts with others and was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved playing bridge, planning social events, cross-stitching, and playing board games. She was the best at catching crabs off any dock and enjoyed teaching her grandchildren her crabbing secrets. She also had a deep love for animals, rescuing quite a collection over the years. Mrs. Ragin is survived by her loving husband, Robert W. Ragin of 69 years; four children; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild: Four Children: Andrew P. Ragin (Andrea) Atlanta, GA, Diane R. Masciale (Frank) Orlando, FL, Melinda R. Cauthen (Bret) Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Karen R. Burch (Brec) Harrison, TN. Twelve grandchildren: Jonathan S. Lindvig (Summer), Emily L. Smith, Bryan N. Lindvig, Vincent R-W Masciale, Franc A. Masciale IV, Marc A. Ragin (Carol), Michelle R. Philabaum (Rick), Benjamin C. Ragin (Cara), Jeremy B. Cauthen, Jordan C. Culbreth (John Keith), James H. Burch (Andrea) & William C. Burch (Taylor). Sixteen great-grandchildren: Leala Orr (Lucas), Elyse Lindvig, Sanders Lindvig, Nora Philabaum, Brooke Philabaum, Chase Philabaum, Sara Beth Ragin, Caroline Ragin, Jango Culbreth, June Culler Culbreth, Emma Ragin, Atley Burch, Breck Burch, Caroline Burch, Irving Masciale, and Franck Masciale. One great-great-granddaughter: Evelyn Orr Mary Ragin is survived by one sister, Jean C. Pruett, Claremont, CA, and one brother, Michael S. Culler, Jr. (Norma) Surfside Beach, SC.
