Mary Pinckney Obituary

Mary Pope Dowling Pinckney CHARLESTON - Mary Pope Dowling Pinckney, 92, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Edward Hall Pinckney, Jr., entered into eternal rest Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Her graveside service will be held Monday, January 6, 2014, in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Mary was born September 17, 1921, in Varnville, South Carolina, daughter of Henry Hoyt Dowling and Mary Pope Frampton Dowling and a 1941 graduate of the College of Charleston. She was a retired Payroll Clerk with Charleston County School District. Mary was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary "Blossom" Dowling Pinckney and Margaret Frampton Pinckney Griesemer (Dave) both of Charleston, SC, five grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Hollis, Sr., (Melissa), Phillip Rodney Nissen (Karen), Jacqueline Marie Knight, Shannon Elizabeth Knight, (fiance;, Bryan), Dennis Lee Griesemer, (Erin), four great grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Hollis, Jr., (Molly), Amber Marie Lynn Knight, Savannah Grace Nissen and Larry Griesemer and one great-great grandson, Jeffrey James Hollis, all of Charleston, three brothers-in-law, Dr. Robert H. Pinckney, Lt. Col. Lucian W. Pinckney, Ret. USAF and Alfred G. Pinckney (Julianna), one sister-in-law, Elizabeth P. Green and many special nieces and nephews. Mary is predeceased by her sister, Rena Frampton Dowling Phillips. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406, Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412 or Trinity United Methodist Church, 273 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
