I am so sorry to read about Martine's sad loss today. I knew her from the sorority we had both joined at Furman, but lost touch with her after college, as I ended up on the West Coast and have not been back to the area. I remember her strong personality and the unique perspective she brought to things. It saddens me to hear that she passed so young. My sincere condolences.

Martine was our 2nd daughter. She added so much to our lives. a funny intelligent sweet person. We loved her and saw how happy Angie (our 1st daughter) was with her. She is much missed.

Our deepest sympathy to all who loved and cherished Martine. My deceased husband, Bubba, coached Martine in basketball and there were few as competitive and spunky as she. Martine was a team leader and grew to be a true leader as an adult. She will be greatly missed. Peace be with all who will miss her.

To all of Martine's family, friends, students, and fellow teachers whose lives she touched in many ways, I speak personally and professionally when I say I am better for having known her, even though it was brief. Her training for our staff many years ago regarding SPED and Autism was the best training I have been to. She was funny yet wise beyond her years.
I know she is with all of her students who faced struggle in life and can see them joyfully without
struggle. The inclusiveness she fought for is right where she is now~ with her family who greeted her.
Rest peacefully now, Martine. You did an amazing job as an angel on Earth. Now watch over those here who miss you and love you.
Peace,

What an amazing person. Everything I learned about autism was taught to me by Martine. She had an amazing gift for special education. Her love and enthusiasm for special needs students poured from her soul. She was a fierce advocate and will be missed.

Though I've only known you three short weeks, in your time of most need. As I cared for you, you've really touched my heart.
