Dr. Mark was my physician for many years! If the patient showed up at 6am with an issue...he would make you a cup of coffee and see you right then!

There will never be another Dr. Mark McLaughlin! So funny, so caring and so focused! We all loved him as our physician!

Blessings to his family! Miss him very much! May the "peace of our Lord" be always with him and his family!

Dear Dr. McLaughlin,
I know you are resting with the Lord. I have found a young primary doctor to take care of me;however, I still miss you. It has been three years since you've been gone. Continue to rest in the arms of our Lord. Your dedicated patient.

I have yet to find a physician who was as smart, funny and understanding as Mark. He will be missed by me always.

My lord please tell me what happened to him! I am so sorry because I had planned to request him as my doctor

"Hey man.. " was always his greeting whenever I had my Dr visit with him. So down to earth! As my last Drs visit with him was at 4 pm Friday the 22nd I guess I was one of his last patients. As my physician for nearly 20 years we went back awhile. Here it is over two years later and I still am thinking of him. May he continue to RIP. I miss you Dr Mac!!

An amazing human.

I think of Dr Mac every single day. I still haven´t found anyone who can help me with my mental health like he did.

I still think of Dr M daily. He made such an impression on our family. Not only as our physician but as a confidant and friend. I believe he is still watching over me because he creeps into my thoughts at some point everyday. I still haven´t found another provider I feel as comfortable with as I did Dr M.

May his family continue to heal and know they were so blessed to have experienced his life as they did.

So sorry. Mark and I were together at a barn dance in Lancaster when I met my wife and I have frequently reminded my wife that we are together thanks to Dr. Mark and bridge.

I just this moment found out that Dr. Mac passed away! I am shocked and so saddened by this news. I has the privilege and honor to workers his secretary in Medical Group his entire military
career. May he RIP.

I moved here a few years and was lucky enough to find Mark as my Doctor.

I wasn´t taking care of myself and he really helped me get on top of things which has made my life so much better.

Dr. Mark McLaughlin was much more than my doctor. I considered him to be a friend. I actually looked forward to my visits, irrespective of whether due to sickness, advise, or check-ups. I miss him dearly.

I'll never forget Dr. Mac. He was my doctor for ten years and my son's doc longer. I really considered him a friend. If I had something I wanted to discuss, he would turn, plop down in a chair, clasp his hands behind his head, and say 'what's up?'

When my son died in a bad car accident, he left me a message telling me how sorry he was, and then expressed his feelings later to me in person. He was a really good person. I'll miss him and look forward to seeing him again someday.

I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Mark's passing. He's been my doctor since I moved to the Charleston area 16 years ago. We were fellow PSU graduates, one year apart, and we talked of seeing each other every 6 months for a very long time. His honorable service, accomplishments, and love of family were so evidenced in the framed diplomas and pictures on his walls. I felt that I could tell him anything and he understood and would take care of me. With the words expressed here by others, many people felt the same. A kind, funny, caring soul has moved onward. I am very sorry for the loss to your family, and am sending love and wishing you strength and joy in your memories.

I am so sad to learn of Dr. McLaughlin's much too early death. He was my preceptor when I was in NP school over 20 years ago. He was a font of knowledge and a wonderful teacher. I never saw him again but to this day, I still use so many of the tips and recall words of wisdom he shared with me. I'm a better clinician because of him.
I also recall how much he loved his family and always enjoyed the stories he shared.

I relocated to Charleston in 2010 and knew no one in the area. I found Dr. M almost immediately thereafter and he became caretaker and confidant to myself and 2 children. Two years later my future husband would relocate to the area and follow to become a patient. Never once have we felt any lack of confidence in the care and candor of such an amazing soul. Following transference of custody of my husbands two children into our care 2 years ago, they also came to know his amazing power of being open and has given all our daughters his "boys only want one thing speech". This will always stick with us as a blessing even if one wasn´t "into boys." We were devastated beyond words to hear of his passing after only having visited the practice less than a month ago. Please know your loss is also my loss and I can only heal as time passes. May my memories bring some comfort knowing he was loved by so many for just being himself and caring for those beyond himself. I wish I was so confident I will find another provider who can even come close but I will never feel as secure as I did under his guidance. God speed Dr. M! May we meet again in that big clinic you must be part of up there!

I was stunned and saddened by the news of Dr. Mark´s passing. I became his patient when I moved to Mount Pleasant in 1999. I thought anyone with " laugh" in the middle of his name should be a keeper. He was that and more. When I moved to Santee in 2014 I kept him as my doctor even though I had to drive an hour to see him (elevating my blood pressure). My deepest sympathies to his family.

My family of 6 has been patients of Dr Mclaughin for over 20 years. He was like a father to me, and grandfather to our children. I had the honor of being invited to his elite poker group. I always ended our conversations with "Have a nice day!" And he replied, "It's inevitable!"
He gave great "facts of life" yalks to our kids.
This incredible man leaves a very large hole in many hearts.
Whoever takes his place at the office, has very big shoes to fill.
Mark, thank you for gifting us with your knowledge, love anf light. You will be missed!

I was just informed of the untimely passing of a wonderful man! The best physician that has taken care of me for years and motivated me through every visit. Every time we talked he would give me a huge smile, a firm hand shake and say "hey kid, what's going on". He will be missed dearly! Rest in eternal peace.

Dr MacLaughlin has been my doctor since 1986. When I heard the news, my heart just sunk. Always so pleasant and caring... the kind of person you enjoyed seeing and always knew he was looking out for your best interest. You were never just a number to him. Heaven just received another angel...So sorry for the loss of this sweet man.

I was so distressed when I received the letter about the passing of Dr. Mack. I can not imagine building the kind of relationship we shared with another doctor. My husband and I have been his patient for more than 20 years. I am still in disbelief. Dr. Mack has always been kind, caring, compassionate, honest, and what a good listener. We will miss him so much! Will continue to pray for the family.

Dr McLaughlin was my doctor for the last five years. My condolences to his family and friends. He was an amazing doctor that I always felt comfortable discussing any health issue with. He will be greatly missed.

Dr McLaughlin was my Dr and friend for over a decade. He was very kind, humble and Charleston has lost a great man. I´ll always remember the pictures of he and his daughter cave spelunking proudly hung on his office wall. Just a great person!

He was a caring yet extremely funny man. We aligned in our thinking in a lot of areas like politics and COVID. We would crack each other up. His wit was dry and so unassuming. He was also a wonderful doctor and helped me in so many areas of my life. Mark was a treasure and will be sorely missed. Mark McLaughlin was not only a incredible physician, he also was the most kind compassionate loving human being I had the pleasure of knowing since 1997. I just saw him on April 18th as a patient and he ended our conversation by telling me we both will be living into our 100´s, you will be 100 and I will be 102. To say I was shocked when I heard the news is putting it lightly. My heart is breaking for his family. Hugs and prayers

I was one of his patients and I really enjoyed his guidance and care over the years. He always had a way of making me feel better in conversation alone....but really looked out for me as my doctor. Received the letter from Roper about Dr McLaughlins passing. My husband and I have seen him for about 10 years and just adored him. We are shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. I just received a letter from RSFH letting me know of Dr. McLaughlin´s passing. I have been speechless for hours now. He has been my doctor for over a decade and I simply can´t see anyone else being my doctor. He was so caring and compassionate and smart and empathetic, you could tell he really cared about you. He will be missed by so many people. I hope he´s looking down on us with a smile on his face. Wish he was still here. Rest in peace doc.

I have been a patient of Mark's for more years than I can recall. I have been out of town, but talked to him just before I left. I am shocked and saddened beyond belief. Thinking of his family. He will be missed more than I can adequately express. Fantastic physician.

I am so heartbroken. Dr McLaughlin was my doctor for the past nine years since we moved to Mt Pleasant. My condolences to the Mcclaughlin family. Dr. Mcclaughlin was my mother Gladys White primary care physician for years. He was a kind man, always pleasant and caring. My mother just passed on April 9th and Dr Mcclaughlin reached out with a phone call of condolences to the family, I truly appreciated his thoughtfulness. This was no more than a week and a half ago. God makes no mistakes and Dr Mcclaughlin has completed his purpose God planned for him. Touching lives and making a difference. He´s now absent from the body and present with our Lord and Savior. When I took a memo from another doctor concerning an office with this doctor, the receptionist took the memo and did not say a word. After bringing my aunt home from her lab work, my called me with the news. I was so stunned. I had just seen him April 13th. I asked him about his wife. He said, "She has her good days." Dr Mac has been taking care of me and my mental health since the early 2000´s. He also took care of my son Coco since he was born. He helped us get his autism diagnosis quickly and has been there for every step of his development. I can´t see myself going to any other doctor and I am scared to. I went to see him when I struggled, when I was sad, scared or lonely. He was more than a doctor to our family. He was a friend. My heart is with his family.

I became a patient of his only 2 years ago. I admired his attention to detail and how he always took the time to explain. "When a loved one becomes a memory, your memories become treasures. Share your treasures ". Praying for the family.

My brother always had an anecdote and good advice about anything regarding healthcare. He was a devoted doctor and exercise enthusiast. Unfortunately I have not been in close contact with him over the last few years. We had a wonderful childhood together with amazing parents. He will be missed.

Uncle Mark will be missed by his family, I didn´t have the opportunity to know him as I grew older but have fond memories of him as a child on the river at our family cottage. I hope Aunt Suzanne, her daughters and grandchildren are doing well.

I am so very sorry to hear about Dr. Mac. He was the best doctor and went above and beyond for the 24 years he took care of me. I was uninsured, and that didn´t matter to him. I got the best care for half of my life. I feel like I lost a family member, and I will never ever ever forget Dr. Mac. May he Rest In Peace as he surely was an Angel here on Earth.
