Mark Howard Obituary

Mark William Howard Charleston - Mark William Howard, 70, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Carla Crisp Howard, entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 6, 2021. His funeral service will be held at the graveside Friday, November 12, 2021, in Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Ft. Johnson Road at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel. Mark was born July 28, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, son of the late John Markley Howard and Judith Riddle Howard. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Carla Howard of Charleston; daughter, Haylee Howard; sister, Karlene Weherley; nephews, Stephen and Parker Carnes; and niece, Barbara Carnes. Mark was a traveling photographer as a young adult and went on to make a career in the food distribution industry. For the past 30 years, Mark was known as 'the bread man', taking pride in his work, his family and his golf game. His love for nature (especially his roses), music, and again, his golf game, will be forever cherished by those close to him. In lieu of flowers, donations of any kind can be made to James Island Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Rd., Charleston, SC 29412, a cause he held dear and of which was a long time supporter. Mark,
I remember when we first met in grade school on Northwood Dr. We were bonded at the hip. We spent lots of good times together. It was great that our parents became friends. I remember taking a couple of family vacations together to Gatlinburg, TN. Even after you moved to Florida we stayed in touch and I visited while in High School. It was refreshing to know that you were there no how much time or distance separated. You were there in 1981 after I went through the devastating crisis of losing my younger brother. You set up a Summer job in Columbus for me. I have always been grateful. Now after my retirement and having some free time, I was so in hopes of reconnecting in the Spring when Kathy and I are planning a trip to Florida. It looks like the reconnection is going to happen in Heaven. See you in Heaven my dear friend. Love, Tim
