Marie Goust Obituary

Marie Francoise Goust DURHAM, NC - Marie Francoise Goust, age 67, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 in her Durham home. Francoise was born in Paris, France, to Marie Rose Domergue Montassut and the late Dr. Marcel Montassut. She met her future husband, Jean-Michel during a ski trip in Austria. They fell deeply in love, then married in 1963. Immigrating to the US in 1975 with their two sons, Olivier and Thierry, the family prospered for years on the Isle of Palms, near Charleston, SC, enjoying life on the beach there. Francoise and Jean-Michel then later moved to Durham, NC, in 2003 to live closer to their sons. Spending time with her family was a source of joy to her in her last years. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Dr. Jean-Michel Goust of Durham, NC; her sons, Dr. Olivier Goust and life partner, Dr. Joseph Balla, of Durham, NC; and Thierry Goust, and wife, Kerri, and granddaughter, Aireana, all of Raleigh, NC; her mother, Marie Rose Montassut of Paris, France, and her brother, Dominique Montassut, also of Paris, France. A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday evening, May 28, 2009 at Triangle Presbyterian Church, 5001 Tudor Place, Durham, NC. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00-7:00 PM in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the local chapter of Make-A-Wish Foundation.
