Marian Hutchinson Obituary

Marian Louise Godfrey Hutchinson Summerville - Marian Louise Godfrey Hutchinson died Thursday, October 6, 2017 at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, SC, two weeks short of her 94th birthday. Marian was born October 20, 1923 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of Homer Mann Godfrey and Gladys Lucille Knight Godfrey. She married Luther Hutchinson on September 10, 1944 and lived in Summerville, SC. For the last year and a half, Marian has resided at White Oak Manor. She was predeceased by her husband (2003); parents; and three sisters, Mary Godfrey, Doris Youngblood, and Francis Myers. She is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Farris (Bert) and Jean Godfrey; two sons, Luther "Lutey" Hutchinson, Jr., and Eric Hutchinson (Shelley); five granddaughters, Lori Broderick (Eric), Jennifer Revill (Shane), Tania Bibbler (Kyle), Erica Senn (JJ), and Madison Hutchinson; six great-grandchildren, Chase Cummings, Keller Grossman, Peyton, Rachel, and Tanner Broderick, Isabelle Bibbler, and Lilah Senn; and many nieces and nephews. Marian graduated from North Charleston High School in 1940, then from Rice Business College. She worked for the City of Charleston, Charleston Naval Shipyard, and WV Pulp and Paper. She also taught piano for many years. Marian was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Summerville for over 83 years, and was a member of the Sue Knight Sunday School Class. Funeral Services will be Monday afternoon, October 9, 2017 at 2 o'clock in Bethany UMC, Spell Chapel. Burial will follow in Boone Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 o'clock until the time of service in Spell Chapel. Flowers are accepted.
