Marian Cook Obituary

Marian Cook JACKSONBORO, SC - Marian Haygood Cook, 90, of Jacksonboro, South Carolina, widow of Wilbur C. Cook, Jr., entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 6, 2025. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2025 in Grace Church Cathedral, 98 Wentworth Street at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends Monday between five and seven o'clock in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel. Marian was born April 2, 1935 in Augusta, Georgia, daughter of Dr. Virgil Marion Haygood and Arvonia Sizemore Haygood. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Marian worked at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she was a Research Specialist of anesthesiology and respiratory therapy. She was a member of The Garden Club of Charleston, The Colleton County Historical and Preservation Society, as well as Grace Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild. Marian was predeceased by her brother, Howard M. Haygood of Augusta, Georgia. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Cook Blanchard; two grandchildren, Garland Haygood Blanchard, Parker Steele Blanchard (Emery Alice Carr); three nephews, Charles Ashley Royal (Ellen), Jerome Atticus Connell, W. Emory Dunn (Mary Charles); and two nieces, Toni Ann Royal (Elizabeth Urquhart), Carla Ann Royal. Memorials may be made to Grace Church Cathedral, 98 Wentworth Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
