Margaret Frasciello
Mt. Pleasant, SC - Margaret Lorena (Rena) Nilon Frasciello, beloved wife of George J Frasciello passed away peacefully Saturday January 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her husband, her three children and their spouses.
Rena was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre Twp., Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of John F. Nilon and Mary (Beres) Nilon. Rena was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, the Community College of Bucks County where she graduated Phi Theta Kappa, and The College of New Jersey. She decided to pursue a degree in business and attended the College of New Jersey in her mid fifties and enjoyed being the mother figure to 20 year olds solving calculus problems. Her husband George, a lifelong entrepreneur, could always call on Rena to smooth a client's ruffled feathers with her steady charm. Her children and grandchildren always remember mom and grammy's insistence on proper grammar, as well as her love of tennis, football, canasta and reading.
Rena is survived by her husband, George J Frasciello; a son, Gerald (Laryssa) Frasciello of Charlotte, NC; and two daughters, Karen Frasciello (William) Graham of Chappaqua, NY; and Dr. Lauren Frasciello (Christoper) Hamilton of Charleston, SC. She was also the proud Grandmother of seven granddaughters, Lindsay Sanders, Alexis Frasciello, Megan, Katie, and Kristen Graham, and Dr. Audrey and Abigail Hamilton, all of whom were her pride and joy.
Rena worked as a RN for many years in the Princeton, NJ area as well as New York, and Pennsylvania. She will be remembered for her selfless dedication to her patients, family and friends. Rena and her husband George established a scholarship at King's College of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on behalf of her father, John F Nilon and her father in law, Gerald J Frasciello for financially needy students at King's College. She and her husband George also provided scholarship funds for academically gifted children at De La Salle Academy in New York City. Both Rena and George were active members of UNICO, an Italian American organization which provides student scholarships and services for humanitarian causes and medical research. Rena and George were also members of the Papanicolaou Corps for Cancer, an organization devoted to research for the eradication of cancer. Donations can be made on-line in Rena's memory to the Education-Nursing Scholarship at Roper St Francis Foundation, www.rsfh.com/foundation. Funeral arrangements are forthcoming.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464, (843) 884-3833.
