I am so sorry about Lucas' passing. He was a wonderful man, full of life and you knew how much he loved life and his work on the Osprey. I met him on the Full Moon Cruise in June and it was a fabulous experience. Some of the Chamber members from the Business After Hours came on board at 9:00 until after midnight. I met lots of really great people and Lucas was always checking to make sure all was going well for everyone. Many people in my Small Group at Church knew Lucas and we are all lifting up his family. He will be missed and really, it is hard to go over Shem Creek and not think about Lucas and the Osprey Crew.
God bless you all with Jesus' Peace that passes ALL UNDERSTANDING!
Love to you all,
Amy Flanagan

Ellison & Martha, I can't imagine your pain but I know that Lucas was so special and loved by us all. I wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your loss and hope this photo will make you happy not sad. I have others that I would love you to have. I know we have lost touch but I think of you often especially when I have my Grandbabies Ellison & Elliott to remind me of "family" which I will always consider you both. Please let me know if there is anything at all I can do.

Lucas was the first friend I made when my family moved from Missouri to Sullivan’s Island. For as long as I’ve known him his interactions with others was always tempered with kindness and patience, he always conducted himself at the highest level of integrity and honor, how he managed to do this while living life with the throttle hammered down is beyond me. He was a good man and will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I am delighted to have known this wonderful gentleman/outdoorsman full of life and fire. I do not know many that can honestly say that they lived life daily, but Lucas was one. Peace to you, my brother...will miss you, but will see you again one day!

I met Luke in summer classes at the CofC. From the first day we spoke, it was as if we had known each other all our lives. Although I only saw him a few times a year for the last many years, when I did see him, it was as if we had never missed a beat. He always treated myself and others with warmth, kindness, and a genuine heartwarming smile. One of the nicest people I've ever had the benefit of knowing! Keep smiling down on us Luke! You will always be a bright spot in our memories!

I didn't know Lucas but for a short time, and in that time he dramatically impacted me with his overflowing joy, adventurous spirit, and love for others. He sang the praises of his family and friends, and I will never forget his love for the water. Y'all are in my prayers.

Helen and family, I'm very sorry for your loss. Luke was part of the fabric of our cozy, quiet neighborhood and a good neighbor of nine years. His absence will be conspicuous. If you and little Luke need help with anything at all, Helen, don't hesitate to ask - I'm right next door.

To the good people of the Smith family,
Please accept my most heart-felt condolences for the loss of Lucas. I didn't know him well, but he was such a pleasant person to be with in the time I spent around him. I was impressed with how much he enjoyed life, and how much people around him enjoyed his company. He certainly left this world a better place.
Sincerely, Michael Trouche

My deepest sympathies to all of his family and friends that are feeling the enormity of this loss. Lucas was larger than life and never met a stranger. His door was always open. As a matter of fact, I met my husband at one of his infamous parties. Now, he is having a big party with Jesus and having the time of his life. Rest in peace, Lucas. You will be missed by so many. Until we all meet again......

I was completely devastated to hear the news about Lucas. I met him when I worked at Pelican for several years, and we remained friends for years following. He was a kind, funny, good-hearted and generous man. And even though he already accomplished so much, it is a tragedy that he left this earth so soon. My deepest sympathy and condolences to his family that he loved so much. Rest in peace Lucas. I'll miss you.

Just want the family to know how saddened I was to hear of your loss. I never knew Lucas the man. I remember a blond haired little boy living at the beach and was the nephew of my college friend Gay. I also remember Diane's beautiful portrait of Lucas as a baby. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have not been able to find words to adequately express the shock and grief I know so so so many of us are feeling right now. It's difficult to find any comfort right now, but the thing most comforting to me is knowing that Lucas's visionary enthusiasm for life, matchless determination and motivation, ultra-positive vibe, selfless generosity, gregariousness, fun-loving sense of humor, and of course his infectious smile and laugh, have been permanently lodged deep within our hearts, so we will all have Lucas forever. We'll still smile every time we think about him or hear his name, just like always. Sometimes our smiles will be accompanied by tears. But Lucas will always be with us to comfort and continue to inspire us.
