Lottie Louise Prause Mellette MOORESVILLE, NC - Mrs. Mellette, 89, passed away on April 13, 2014, at Summit Place of Mooresville, NC. She was born January 6, 1925, in Charleston, SC, to the late Albert Clarence and Jessie Lillian Brooks Prause, both life-long Charlestonians. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, retired LCDR (USCG) Richard D. Mellette of Sumter, SC, two sisters Lillian Prause Coleman and Aline Prause Peters of Charleston, and three brothers, Warren Francis Prause of Charleston, Albert C. Prause, Jr. of Slidell, LA, and Jesse Hylan Prause of Freemont, CA. Mrs. Mellette is survived by her sister Barbara Rae Prause Trusley of St. Mary's, Georgia; and children Dr. Linda Mellette Morris, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Asst. Supt. (ret.) of Lake Norman, NC, Rev. Richard D. Mellette, CrossWorld Church Missionary and wife Wanda Jo of Quebec, Canada; Morgan R. Mrs. Mellette attended Charleston City Schools prior to her marriage and becoming a military homemaker. Upon moving to Mooresville, she became a member of Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church. Following her return to Charleston in 2007, having lived in North Carolina for 10 years with her daughter Gail and family, she was particularly grateful for the support of her sister Mrs. Trusley, nephew and niece William and Helen Mellette, and niece Carol Reed. Equal appreciation is also acknowledged for the care and support of the staff at Summit Place of Mooresville, NC, Hospice and Palliative Care Of Lake Norman, Charlotte (NC) Region, and the staff and congregation of Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church of Mooresville, NC.
