Lisa Tronco Obituary

Lisa DiFabio Tronco CHARLESTON - Lisa DiFabio Tronco passed away suddenly, January 23, 2017. She was 40-years-old. She is survived by her husband Jay, and parents, Carol and Tony DiFabio of Rochester, NY; siblings, Susan and Anthony, as well as loving aunts, uncles, niece and nephews. Born in Rochester NY, Lisa gave her life to educating children, specifically those with learning disabilities. Lisa moved to Charleston in her late teens to attend the College of Charleston, then completed her graduate work at The Citadel. Since that time, she brought reading skills to hundreds of children at Trident Academy, Ashley Hall and East Cooper Montessori Charter School. She was awarded the South Carolina Independent School Association, Lower School Teacher of the Year in 2006 and recognized by the SC Jaycees as their Outstanding Young American Award in the Young Educators division in 2007. Lisa's joy was seeing a child find success and happiness in reading. A child's joy was to be taught by Lisa. Her friends' and family's joy was just being in her presence or in their thoughts. She spread her happiness and generous spirit to her loving husband, her family, hundreds of friends and her dogs. Lisa courageously defeated cancer last year and was inspirational to all that know her in the graceful way that she endured such suffering from that disease. Lisa was a faithful member of Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church on Daniel Island, SC. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Benedict Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant, SC on Tuesday, January 31 at 12 pm, with Father H. Gregory West presiding. In lieu of flowers, Lisa's life-work can be honored and perpetuated by gifts to the Lisa DiFabio Tronco Scholarship Fund, Trident Academy, 1455 Wakendaw Road, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464. Checks can be made to Trident Academy. A Memorial Mass for Lisa will be celebrated on February 4th in Rochester, NY. Arrangements by Charleston Cremation Center and Funeral Home. Lisa was my cousin and it is hard to put into words the sadness that I have been feeling since I was told of her passing. From a very early age she showed kindness meekness and gentleness, never changing as she grew into her adult years. I am glad that I was her cousin and I will miss her especially at Christmas when she would come back to Rochester and join in our family's Christmas Eve celebration. To her husband Jay to my Aunt Carol and Uncle Tony and to my cousins Susan Tony and his sons AJ and NIcholes please note that I love you and will see you at mass on Saturday. cousin Tony

We had the pleasure of seeing Lisa on and off through the years through her friendship with my niece Christi. We fell in love with her from day one! Her warmth, kindness, sense of humor, and many other wonderful attributes made this world a better place. Prayers for peace for her family and the many people who's lives she touched. Her memory will be eternal ✝

Lisa and I had the same major at CofC. We always spotted each other in new classes each semester, and were sure to sit together, always. We loved each other. Haven't seen Lisa since graduation but hearing of her passing, I regret not keeping in better touch over the years. She was an incredibly kind and vivacious person and I am so saddened her life was cut short.
Sending love and light to her family and husband at this incredibly difficult time. I am so sorry for your loss.

I remember having you as a teacher for many years until I moved out of state and what really matters to me is that you were there when needed me or any student that thought that you were awesome. I will always remember you as a friend, mentor and second family member like all teachers.
