Greeleyville will not be the same. He has done remarkable things for so many people wherever he went. Leonard was a true friend to me and the Joseph family. He will truly be missed. Donna

I am very sorry for your loss. Leonard was one of those people who when you first meet him you loved him. He welcomed me to the Bank when I moved to Kingstree giving me a job. He also helped Julie alot and she thought alot of him. I will never forget him, he was truly a great person and he loved the Lord and his family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear about Leonard. Vicki Mitchell sent a note to a mutual friend who just informed me. I've never met anyone who had such a positive outlook on life. I was totally blown away talking with him at Tommy's funeral. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the girls.

I grew up with Leonard he was 4 days older than me. He loved life and blessed many. He was my best friend for over 40 years. I will miss him greatly he was like a brother to me.

Virginia, Marge and family: Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow. I know it has been a difficult time over the last months. But I know Leonard is being his crazy self in heaven right now and making Daddy laugh as always. I know how you must be feeling right now, but you will get through this with God's strength. When we went for a loan, we went to several banks, and Mr. Jonte was the only banker that would even sit down and talk to us. He also gave us our loan, and to that we are very greatful to him

To Virginia and Girls, Marge, Bobby and their families - I am so sorry to hear about Leonard's death. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Leonard will surely be missed in the Town of Greeleyville.

To the Jonte Family, We have all lost a very dear friend. God has really used him to be a blessing to everyone he met, he never met a stranger, he made you feel loved and welcome at all times. He has really been a blessing to us thru losing my daughter with Cancer in April. He would visit her or call her and her spirit would be lifted. Marge and Virginia, I was saddened to hear the news today. Leonard faced his giants daily. I am a better person for knowing that comical, southern, gentleman. My prayers are with you all.

What a rough road for Leonard, all of his family, and friends.

Even though I only met Leonard and his family once at Melissa's wedding, I could feel the connection between Glenn, Mary Ellen and their children with your family.

Glenn's special bond with Leonard was automatic, enduring, and just plain fun-filled.

My only consolation is that Leonard is has met our Mom and she is telling him her life story. Of course, he his graciously listening to her. She will soon return the favor and enjoy listening to his life story.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I wish I could help. We all know that too many good people leave us and this earth too early. God Bless all of you,

Leonard was the type of person that would light up the room just by walking into it!

I'll always remember Leonard for his jovial personality and great sense of humor.

I am so sorry for your loss. I work at the Hospital in Kingstree and I knew Mr. Jonte thru his work on the Hospital Board and Finance Committee. He and his dedication to the Hospital will be missed greatly. I know that Mr. Jonte is now making the angels laugh in Heaven. Your family is in my prayers.

Dearest Virgina and family, Marge, and Mr. Francis:
Many prayers have been sent your way during this time of waiting and celebration of life. I will forever remember Leonard as my Power-Puff football coach at WA when I was "Hammer-Head Haigler". I believe he just kept me out there for both offensive and defensive---all I know is that I just kept running whatever direction Leonard told me to run!
His leadership since high school always impressed upon me the highest example of a gentlemen.
I was amazed at how smart he was!
More recently, when Daddy was in Charleston intensive care and I called Leonard. I was trying to move from Texas to SC and he gave me mortgage advice over the phone to help calm my nerves about moving home quickly to be closer to Mom and Dad. What a blessing his practical voice offered in a time of stress.
Memories are what we have and they live in each person we touch. Leonard touched me and I celebrate his passion and leadership in this life. I only hope to be as giving to others as modeled by him.

May God be your strength and cherished memories give you hope.

Leonard was a supreme example of Christian love toward others. He embodied qualities we all would do well to imitate. His benevolent and joyful influence will continue on this earth into eternity. I'm blessed that I knew him. Our prayers are certainly with the family.

Leonard Jonte was truly an inspiration for everyone who knew and loved him. He was one of my best friends and I will miss him. Leonard always welcomed you like you were the most important person he would meet that whole day. His handshake and smile were more than a greeting, they were a blessing. The love of the Lord shined in his face and you always felt better after spending time with him. The world lost a great hero. Leonard, I want you to know that I am grieving your death today, but I am celebrating your life forever.

Leonard was so many things to so many people. We are incredibly blessed for knowing him and having experienced life with him. The "Ripples" of his life will continue on in not only with his family, but in all the lives he has impacted.

Leonard was a great person who had a uncanny way of making you laugh or smile just by saying hello. We will all miss him.
