Ms. Huger was my economics professor at Charleston Southern in the mid-90s. After taking her macroeconomics class, I ended up changing my major to economics and had her for a number of additional classes during my time at CSU. Her enthusiasm for economics truly was contagious to me.
It became clear early on that she and I espoused different political beliefs. This discovery led to lively debates in class, and she would frequently call on me for my opinion.
I took Money and Banking with her during the summer of 1995. As it was a small summer class, she invited us all to her home on the Battery for lunch one weekend afternoon. She made the most delicious blackberry cobbler with berries from her garden. We had a lovely afternoon that included a walk along the Battery, which was always one of my favorite things to do.
Although it's been 25 years since I graduated college, I'll never forget her mentorship and the impact she made on my life.
Rest in peace, Ms. Huger. You are truly missed.

I had the privilege of getting to know Katy and working with her on various collections projects over my many years with the Gibbes Museum of Art. She could always be counted on for thoughtful, direct, and important input as a member of the Collections Committee, and her presence was appreciated and valued by all who were part of her circles. What a wonderful and full life she led. She will be greatly missed.

We met Katy a few years ago when we became members of a Great Decisions Group. We immediately liked her and appreciated her insight into the topics we discussed. In addition to being smart, she was a welcoming, warm person we wish we had known sooner. When our Great Decisions group meets again in the fall her presence will be greatly missed.
