I was 16,got caught racing my mustang on a Friday night. Called you and you dropped everything and come got me out of going to jail!THANKS FOR BEING SUCH A GREAT UNCLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Thigpen was a true gem! I had the pleasure of doing his building permits for the City of Charleston for many, many years. I would often invite me & my family to come and dine at the restaurant. He was such a gentle & kind soul and will be missed. Keep looking to the hills which cometh your help and strength.

My heart goes out to Sue, Renee´, Rebekah, and family for your loss. Johnny was a very sweet man. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Words can not express the sadness we feel upon hearing of Johnny's passing. While we realize that he is no longer in pain, he will be greatly missed. We first got to know Johnny through the restaurant (best hamburgers ever) then needed his contractor expertise to fix and/or repair things at our home. From fixing a half done job left by another contractor to re-roofing our house to repairing a termite damaged bathroom, he could do it all and treat you as a friend while doing it.
Rest in peace Johnny, you will be missed.

Johnny had cleats and wings in high school where we shared 3 years of sports when an added helmet made him awsome.In the above 1964 photo, he is at the left halfback to right hand side of pic.Halfbacks were a threat to unscored upon lower state Camden champions.The gold miners were down 6 points in a hurry with anger.Johnny was an excel student,athlete, and inspiration to many adolescents.We'll have a good football game when we all get to heaven.

Johnny and I went to Ft Jackson together and then went into the Army Reserve´s together. Great times in the 6o´s. Rest in peace my friend.

So sorry for your loss , Johnny was a genuine and generous man. We know he is no longer suffering and is in the arms of Jesus now. I can still see him making those patties and cooking them on the griddle , oh the best in North Charleston, RIP Johnny!

I am Saddened to hear of Johnny's passing, I recall watching Johnny shoot Pool at Tuckers ,I was amazed as how great he was,,, You will be missed

I competed with Johnny in High School football and track. Later we played golf and pool. Great athlete, competitor and friend. Best to Sue and the family.

Moving home to Charleston in 2010 after 33 years in NY, it was a pleasure to meet my brother, Gene at Johnny's to share a chili cheeseburger and hot dog and visit with Johnny and Suzanne. I remember him well from Garrett High and what a swift star he was on the football field. Rest In Peace!

Johnny had such love for the Old Village of North Charleston. The only things he loved more was Sue and the girls. His efforts to help the Village come back to life were unbelievable. He had great skill sets and took such pride in all he and Sue did. You will be missed my friend but your endeavors will be with us for ever. We will watch after Sue and the girls. You rest my friend.
