John Termine Obituary

I was so sorry to hear about the death of John. My sincere condolences to his family whom he talked about all the time. I worked with John for many years while he was at NIDR. He was a great colleague, mentor and friend. Although I was not directly under his supervision, he always had time for me and was so helpful. We were so sad to see him leave to go to Eli Lilly. As someone who greatly (hugely!) benefitted from taking Forteo, I can thank John also for his work on making that treatment available for bone challenged people like me.

My condolences and hugs to Virginia and the rest of their family on the death of John. John was a very special person. He supported the careers of women in science, and mentored them to success when there were very few lab leaders to do that. He was a great scientific leader in the fields of bone and osteoporosis. John was creative, enthusiastic and deeply involved in science, and made major contributions during his time with NIH and at Lilly. His passion for opera, great music and good wines were widely recognized, and enjoyed! He and Virginia kept a welcoming home, and I was always happy to visit them. He had a major impact on my own career, and I will always be grateful for the opportunities he gave me. May he Rest In Peace, and may his family be comforted in their grief.

I have many fond memories of working with Dr. Termine on the Evista Team and Forteo. I especially treasure the time he and Virginia welcomed Beth Page, Monica Taylor, Nelda Keltner and myself to their beautiful Kiawah Island home.
We were treated like royalty and even got to enjoy some of John's extensive wine collection. I always felt I could be myself around him and that is a special memory.

His place can never be filled, and his loss, will be with you forever.
But his memories should be treasured, and his life celebrated, for the amazing man he was.

What a brilliant and honorable man, full of integrity and kindness. A man of family and faith, what a remarkable life.

Dr. Termine, was a great man who made such a difference in this world. He touched so many lives, and left an eternal light and a handprint on all the souls of the countless lives he touched.

I feel truly blessed, to be one of them, I will always remember whenever I was in his company, he made me feel welcomed and one of the family.
His gentle and kind ways, and his infectious smile and laughter, lit up a room.
First and foremost, he was a loving family man, this was evident in his smile and the expressions on his face, that I witnessed when in his company.
When he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, you could see the joy and happiness, as well as the pride he felt, for all of them.
But what was most obvious, was the adoring love, shared with his beautiful wife and soul mate, Virginia.
It was a gift for me, to share in special occasions, with Dr. Termine, and his family, the memories will live on inside of me, as a blessing in my life.

He will always be remembered, as a man of integrity, honor, excellence, and humility.
