John-Michael Jacob Mayer
Goose Creek - John- Michael Jacob Mayer of Goose Creek, SC, was called home by the Lord on February 25, 2026, in Sturgis, SD, surrounded by love.
Born on August 13, 1985, in Walterboro, South Carolina, John grew up in Walterboro and graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia with a B.S. in Information Technology. He was a lifelong "Fighting Gamecock" and a die-hard Gamecock fan, forging friendships that lasted a lifetime.
John's passions included traveling, airplanes, fire trucks, and gaming. He traveled in and outside of the US. Even when he wasn't traveling, he could tell you stats about your airplane-where it was coming from and where it was going. He had Delta status and loved the perks of flying first class. Local fire trucks and their specifications were also on his radar. Gaming was a favorite pastime, with multiple systems and a massive game collection.
Friends remember him as hilarious, witty, and a master of reels and memes. John's friends and family would say he lived life with kindness and an open heart – never judgmental, always willing to lend a hand or give someone the shirt off his back.
John's diverse skills served him well in his various roles at AAA, Ag First Bank, Walmart Pharmacy, his own eBay store, and as a moderator for J & S Games on Whatnot. He previously worked for Boeing. He always made time for others, no matter how busy life got.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents.
John is survived by his parents, Harold and Ruth Mayer of Walterboro, SC; his love, Carena Reausaw, and their daughters that he loved like his own, Summer and Adysyn, of Sturgis, SD; his beloved cat, Topaz; and a family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The world lost an amazing man, and heaven gained a beautiful soul. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
His life will be celebrated at a later date.

I first met John almost 10 years ago when we worked together at Boeing. Being the remote employee on the team, he instantly made me feel welcomed. He truly was a meme sender and had a great sense of humor. Some of his favorites to send were of Wilford Brimley (especially The Diabeatles), Frasier, Seinfeld, and King of the Hill. He was a great colleague and and even better friend who will be missed.
Also for old times sake...I LIKE SPLENDA!!!

I worked with John at Boeing and we had great laughs together. I will miss him dearly. He would text me and say "throw the book at them Judge Judy" and "don´t be salty" We would laugh a lot. He would text me and share his first class flight experiences and I would tell him not to brag to me when I fly coach. I will miss your text John my friend. Rest easy because you are in the arms of Christ.

I am John Michael´s aunt. We chatted many hours on the phone He always made me laugh. I´m not the best at expressing myself feelings. I can say I loved him dearly. Many times I thought I was calling to cheer him up but that quickly changed. I was the one he cheered up. We always laughed a lot and he never hung up without telling me he loved me I loved him dearly. He will be missed very much. RIP. John-Michael. Fly high Angel.

John, I miss you. I just learned today (3/6/26). I'm thankful that he trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior. We talked about that from time to time over the 15 or 16 years I knew him.

Met John through work and we quickly became friends with mutual interest. We exchanged text daily about first department news and thing we heard on the radio as well as jokes and funny videos. We often joked our cats were talking to each other while we were on teams calls and they had to be on the too. Gone way too soon. Jonn will be missed.

John was a very loving and kind soul and loved that I got to share memories and grew as friends over time. We met through Felicia and Sam suggs, at their house one day. We bonded over time, and talked alot, or sent each other memes, or even videos to each other. We talked about our depression and we talked about stories. We had our laughs, cries, hugs, and joked around. I don't think I could ever find someone like him as an honest, and loyal friend. We love you!!!
