John Kennerty Obituary

John N. Kennerty CHARLESTON - John N. "Jack" Kennerty, 80, of Charleston, passed away on the evening of January 26, 2023. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Nativity Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM Monday at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Jack was born in Charleston on October 8, 1942, the son of John and Edith Kennerty. He graduated from Bishop England High School in 1961 and married the love of his life, Brenda Joyce, on August 23, 1969. Jack was a retired civil servant of the Charleston Naval Shipyard and a proud ham radio operator who loved to chat with folks all over the country. He served faithfully as a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, and he was dedicated to the Knights' principles of charity, unity, and fraternity. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Starks Kennerty. He is survived by his son, John Kennerty III and daughter-in-law, Meredith Pratt of Lithia, Florida; his daughter, Rachel Kennerty of Thieu, Belgium; his sister, Mary Helen Gammon of Mt. Pleasant; his brother and sister-in-law, Hap and Suzanne Kennerty of Mt. Pleasant; hid grandson, George H. Pratt V of Sarasota, Florida and his granddaughters, Mary Pratt and Kate Kennerty of Lithia, Florida.
