John Holladay Obituary

John Billie "Bill" Holladay CHARLESTON - John Billie "Bill" Holladay, 84, of Charleston, SC entered eternal rest on April 11, 2015. As a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, he was surrounded by family before he entered the gates of heaven. Bill was born in Summerville, SC and graduated from a class of only 36 at Summerville High School in 1949. His graduating class was the first class at Summerville High to add 12th grade. His father was Allan Davis Holladay and his mother was Ellen Nelson. Bill had a large family of seven brothers and four sisters. Surviving siblings include Virginia Funk, George, and Larry. Pre-deceased siblings include Jack, Howard, Edgar, Frank, Willard, Patricia Williams, Alleen Mize, and June (who died as an infant). Bill leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Shirley Gordon Holladay. His children include Robert Holladay (Phyllis), Barbara Comerford, and John Holladay (Danette). He was a positive role model for 8 grandchildren including Ashley, Beau, James, Jake, Billy, Christina, Brittany, and Courtney. Great-grandchildren include Gideon, Naomi, and Isaac (who was born just the day before Bill passed). Bill worked for more than 50 years with Montague, Inc. His great work ethic, intelligence, and sense of humor helped him achieve a high level of success as an industrial salesman. Bill encourages friends to reunite with him by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal savior. A celebration of Bill's life is planned for 3pm Saturday, April 18 at Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church, 2014 Bees Ferry Road in Charleston, SC.
