John Drennan Obituary

What an angel this man was! I literally am a free man today for the work he did for me. I thank God for John and our time. God is in control, always. He used John as he will use us all, so take John and his smile with you always! Let it bring you joy! Give of what you are to those you can as John did. Godspeed!

John was one of the nicest persons i have met having moved to charleston sc from monroe la. We played about 10 rounds of golf and he was a pleasure to play with. He was a very good golfer. His passing came as a shock to me. I will miss him.

My prayers and sympathies are being sent to John's family, and especially Jack & Allison on this devastating loss. I met this incredible, brilliant, ridiculously talented man when we were 21, and when he first started law school in Ohio. We maintained our remarkable friendship, albeit long distance and through the wire over the years. We have shared our obstacles and our triumphs with each other, and I will miss him and our conversations immensely. The world lost a great light with the passing of John. He was true, and he loved his children as much as any father could. I loved sharing and listening to his stories. I miss the days where this Mets/Ny Giants fan bonded closely with this Sox/Patriots fan. I became a fan of all of his teams, and I will root for them as long as I have my breath, including the Bulldogs! God Bless his family. Patriots football, Boston Red Sox and spaghetti dinners are only a few of the memories about John we will hold close to our hearts. A great friend who will be greatly missed.

Thank you, John, for always being my friend, my boss, and now an angel to watch over me. I will never forget you, your spirit, or your love of life. You shared your heart with others and made changes in their lives, giving them a new start, a 2nd chance. You were loved by so many people and their love showed through on Saturday, December 8, 2018 by the huge turn out of family, friends, colleagues and co-workers. Love never ends. Until we meet again, John, "Cobra", "Chopper" "Little Flower," Drennan.

John and I were great friends. I spoke with him only a few days before his passing. John planned to meet me Friday in Jonas RIdge. He didn't call or respond to text. When I got home, I called his office planning to give him a hard time for not showing or calling. That is when I found out the bad news. I am still in shock. John was one of the few people I would fight and die for. I miss him and always will. We had the love of brothers. We lost a great man.

May God shine his light upon you John. I am truly blessed to have known you.

John was the first to greet with a smile and part with a laugh and a warm handshake. He will be missed by all.

Drennan Family: John and I were in law school together. He was always friendly and quick to laugh. I have seen John just a view times since back then but he was the same fun loving guy. Cheers, John! Jay Johnson

We are happy to have some nice memories of our mini-reunion last year at Thanksgiving when John and Paul came to Charlotte to spend Thanksgiving with us and Donny and Jen and family. I am so very sorry to hear of John's passing. I met John through SC Stingrays hockey many years ago, and will always remember him as the fun loving, great person he was. My condolences to his entire family. This is a huge loss for everyone who knew him. Godspeed John. You will be missed.

I me John a few times. Being an Irish-American and a Citadel graduate, we had many things and friends in common. I haven't seen John in many months since I moved away to the Washington D.C. area but we talked a few times on Facebook. I am sad to hear of his passing but will remember good times and smiles when I think of him. May he enjoy peace, and may his family have solace in his passing.

John was such a deeply caring, loving, complicated man. I truly loved and will miss him. He is now at peace, and I pray peace for those left here, especially Jack, Allison and Joann. God bless the whole family.

John was a wonderful attorney and friend. He touched many lives. We met at Harvard many years ago at a NCDD seminar and remained friends and business associates since that time. He was a good man, and a giver, not a taker, as so many are in today's world. May peace be with you in this troubled time.

I will really miss John. He had such a great easy going demeanor. I never saw him in Court but I am sure he had the same confidence there as he did over a 5 foot putt. He was one of those people who made me feel good for just being around him. There may be more artful ways of saying it, but this simply sucks. I am so sad inside.

I first met John when I was working as a law clerk for Judge Rawl in 1993. John was one of my favorite people to watch in the courtroom AND one of my favorite people to hang out with in the halls outside of court. A truly gifted and kind person.
