John Ditmore Obituary

John Alan Ditmore Greer, SC - John Alan Ditmore, 71, of Greer, South Carolina, loving husband of Barbara Ditmore, entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 19, 2021. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 23, 2021, in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mount Pleasant, SC, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. John was born April 1, 1950, in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, son of the late Alexander Ditmore and the late Sadie Ditmore. He spent his youth in Tellico Plains and was a long-time resident of Mount Pleasant before he and Barbara made the move to Greer. For 40 years, John was owner and operator of Ditmore Concrete Finishing in Mount Pleasant. He was also a proud member and former Past Master of the Etiwan Masonic Lodge No. 95 for 40 years. Everyone that knew John knew what a die-hard fan he was of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. He also loved Corvettes and was a member and past officer of the Coastal Carolina Corvette Club in Charleston, SC. John always had a big smile, a joke ready, and never knew a stranger. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Barbara Ditmore of Greer, SC; brother, Roy S. Ditmore (Kathy) of Norwich, CT; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters. Memorials may be made in John's name to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

Barbara, I was deeply saddened to hear of Alan's passing. I have many fond memories of the times sitting around the round table at the Islander Restaurant and the fun we all had. I had not seen Alan in quite some time, but I'll always remember his quick wit, his keen sense of humor and gentle personality. Colleen and I send our sincere condolences to you and the entire family. God bless.

Barbara, I am so sorry to hear of Alan's passing. He and I were very close friends through our school days at Tellico Plains High School. As is the case so often, we kind of went our separate ways after high school graduation and lost touch for several years. I remember getting to meet you at our 50th class reunion in 2018. I'm so glad he and I had a phone conversation on Aug 29th this year. He was updating me on his retirement and getting to relocate to your hometown in Greer, S C. He was so excited. Much could be said of our friendship but not enough time nor space. Just cherish your past memories with Alan and know he was loved by many friends. May God bless and comfort you in this time of sorrow. High School classmate, Mike Akins.

Barbara, I am so sorry to hear this. Your husband was so bright and cheerful and a joy to be around. I am sure that had a lot to do with your wonderful relationship. Take your days one at a time and know there are many, many people out here that love and think and pray for you!!
