TO ALL THE BESSINGER FAMILY,
My sincerest sympathy in the loss of your beloved "Joe". To think of him brings sweet memories of the late 50's and time spent at Piggy Park. My former (deceased) husband was from Columbia and at the Citadel with one of the Bessinger men; he introduced me to the mustard-based BBQ, and I've introduced it to my children! Returning from our Thanksgiving in Charleston, my son & I had to stop off in Columbia & pick up a case of Maurice's BBQ sauce. The Bessinger family share a special place in my family and you are all in our prayers at this sad time. I know he will never be really gone from you as long as you have your wonderful memories. God bless you all.

When I was very young, my family lived near the Citadel. The Piggie Park on Rutledge was a regular destination for us and continued to be one of my favorite places until it closed. I'm saddened to learn of Mr Bessinger's passing. My condolences to the family and friends of this fine man.

I fondly recall seeing Mr. Bessinger early in the mornings at the Rutledge Ave. Piggie Park in the early 1960s as I delivered his News and Courier. The 35 cent hamburgers there were the best. He and those times are missed.

MR BESSINGER WAS A GREAT PERSON TO KNOW. I AM SORRY THAT HE HAS PASSED. AND CONDOLENCES TO HIS WIFE AND FAMILY. I KNOW YOU ALL WILL MISS HIM. THEY USED TO VISIT THE DOCTOR`S OFFICE IN MT PLEASANT AND I GOT TO KNOW THEM. HE USED TO BRINNG ME MUSTARD BASE SAUCE OF HIS OWN CREATION. I WILL MISS THAT TOO. LOVE TO YOU ALL.
