Jimmy Mitchum Obituary

MITCHUM, SR., JIMMY Jimmy Session Mitchum, Sr., 80, of Summerville, SC, husband of Ruby Bunch Mitchum, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, April 12, 2008 at Heritage Holiness Church at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery. Friends may call at PARKS FUNERAL HOME this Friday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Mr. Mitchum was born May 11, 1927 in Greeleyville, SC, a son of Session Mitchum and Ollie Flemming Mitchum. He was a US Army veteran and served during WWII. He retired after 33 years with the Giant Portland Cement Plant as a maintenance man. Mr. Mitchum attended Heritage Holiness Church. He was a longtime member of Iron Workers Union Local 601 and a member of Local 3-0216. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruby Bunch Mitchum, of Summerville; four sons, Jimmy S. Mitchum, Jr. and wife Leslie of North Charleston, Larry E. Mitchum and wife Suzy of Ridgeville, Francis L. Mitchum, Sr. of Jedburg and Kenny J. Mitchum, Sr. of Summerville; two sisters, Janie Lou Ilderton of Summerville and Doris Berry of Reevesville; eleven grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.
