Jerry Arnold Mawhinney DALLAS, TX - Jerry Arnold Mawhinney, formerly of Goose Creek, SC died April 24, 2014 in Dallas, TX. Jerry was born in Alpena, MI on July 7, 1941, son of Larry and Lillian (Wong) Mawhinney. He was raised in Flint, MI and married his high school sweetheart Mary Spears on June 16, 1962. They were married 47 years and raised their family in Royal Oak, MI. Jerry was a teacher for 48 years, most of which were served in the Ferndale Public Schools. He loved reading, traveling to see his children and grandchildren, and playing cards with his friends. Jerry is survived by his twin brother, Larry and brother, Ken; children, Laura Mawhinney & fiance;, Kevin Walsh, Robert & Sarah Mawhinney, Melissa Soule and Elizabeth & Christopher Ward; grandchildren, Travis, Brandon, Jacob, Benjamin, Matthew and Tyler; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry & Lillian Mawhinney; wife, Mary Mawhinney; brother, David Mawhinney. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI; Pastor Jack Dowden officiating.
