Jemeta Barnwell Obituary

To the family of Jemeta Barnwell, I am an ex-coworker and associate. My heart is heavy over this news of such an adventurous and spirited woman. I remember her smile and tremendous sense of humor!! She was hilarious at times and I enjoyed her talk of the trips she'd gone on and others she'd planned. The shock of this news weeks after it happened has just reached me and I had to say something in her honor. Her kindness towards me, I will never forget. My most sincere condolences to her family (especially her children). I just can't imagine! I've prayed and will continue to pray for you all and please know that she was very dear to me. Ms Jemeta was more than my coworker and I will truly miss laughing & talking with you about our SC folks. Sit down servant and rest a little while.

Hello, my Name is LaVerne Holmes, I was Jemeta’ s supervisor for the last 20 yrs. As a supervisor you try not to become attached to your employees. With Jemeta and our team, Juanita, Eric and John, we became a family after working together for 15 years. Those years were some of the best years of our careers. John and Eric left us and were replaced by others. God continued to replace them until we got the perfect fits as teammates, Cheryl and Tiasia.
As you guys already know in 2011 Jemeta battled an unbeaten disease. God went to work with her that year. As she was going through this battle, she never missed a day of work. Therefore, I called her Dedicate, Determine and Dependable. She was highly respected by her co-workers. Her goal was to become an NCIC Supervisor within the department. Before it could happen on paper God called her home. I can say, in my eyes and Gods, she met her goal, when I was absent, she was the acting supervisor and I say thanks for supporting me and the department.
I want to thank Ashley, Jeffery, and her loving Grandchildren for allowing Jemeta to stay late and work overtime due to the department being short staffed. I want you to know she was well loved by me and the department. She was a God sent sister, a friend, and one of my favorite coworkers. On behalf of the Cobb County PD we will greatly miss her smiling face. If you need our support, please don’t hesitate to call. Our prayers are with you.

Jemeta, My friend and co-worker. You will be missed. You were my hero. Your friendship was like no other. Work ethic was second to NONE! I am going to miss you my dear friend. Rest in Heaven. God got an exceptional one. Love you!

I have always loved admired and respected Jemetta, who I have been friends with for over 30 years. May God welcome you into the Kingdom of Heaven. Always State Police Officer Omar, sadly missed.

Jemeta, you were always so nice and pleasant to me. I loved how we would cut up and get too loud. I miss our lunches in the breakroom!
