Jane Dickson Obituary

Jane Carver Dickson

Charleston - Jane Carver Dickson of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Bishop Alex Dickson, took the Hand of Jesus and went to her Heavenly home on Friday, March 6, 2026. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date on Pawleys Island, after which Jane will be laid to rest with her husband, The Right Reverend Alex Dickson.

Jane was born in Manhattan in 1937 but grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. Jane graduated from Mt. Vernon College. She was previously married to Jim Schuyler. They had three children: John Schuyler (Kathleen) of Harrisburg,Pennsylvania; Kaki Schuyler Meyer (Craig, now deceased) of Gladstone, New Jersey; and The Reverend Graham Schuyler (Wendy) of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Jane has six wonderful grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jane moved to Charleston in 1984 and became a strong believer in our Lord Jesus Christ. She was very active in the church, including being a Stephen Minister. She had the gift of hospitality and loved gathering people. Throughout her adult life, she spent much of her time as a volunteer in many ministries and organizations. One of these was at the Edmontson-Allston House where she was a docent for twenty-six years. She was on the Board of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League. She was co-editor of the cookbook Music, Menus, and Magnolias and co-director of one of the designer show houses.

In 1999 Jane married Bishop Alex Dickson, and they had twenty-two wonderful years together. In 2013 they moved to Bishop Gadsden Retirement Community.

Jane's Memorial Service and Interment will be in the burial grounds of the Historic Chapel of All Saints Church, Pawleys Island, South Carolina. The Right Reverend Mark Lawrence and The Reverend Graham Schuyler will officiate.

Donations may be made to the G3 Ministries through The Reverend Graham Schuyler, 76 Westfield Drive, Pawleys Island, South Carolina 29585.
