This man preached and practiced unconditional love on a daily basis. He balanced wit and whim, laughter and love, transparency and forgiveness. He loved the scripture, loved his congregation, loved absurdist humor, and loved his family. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will miss him for years to come. I'll never forget the lessons he taught me, and how he instilled in me what it means to be a good person and make good decisions.

The Harper's,

I never met Jimmy face to face, but spoke to him on the phone with his sister Joanie a number of times. He had a great laugh and sense of humor that will be surely missed. The love and affection he and Joanie shared was a joy to watch.

Jimmy will continue to watch over all of you and I add my prayers to each of you in your journey.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear this news. Pastor Harper married my husband and I over 20 years ago. He was a very special man. My family visited his church when we were in the low country. He was our pastor at Zoar United Methodist Church in Greer, SC. I will miss him. My prayers are for his children, his mother, and his family.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Reverend Harper. I have always held a special place for him in my heart. Jimmy served as Pastor of our church, Zoar UMC IN Greer, SC. He baptized my two daughters, officiated the marriage of one of them, and was always so kind to me and my family. Over the years, my family and I rented a house on Sullivan's Island for the month of September. I visited Jimmy's church numerous times while there. I always felt he was a man who LIVED the convictions of his commitment to Christ. He was always easy to talk with, compassionate and understanding. He had a way of reassurance about him. Once he told me that I had a crooked halo and one wing in the fire. His way of saying, straighten up! I will remember Rev. Harper fondly always and am deeply saddened that he has left us. I know he walks on streets of gold today. Rest In Peace, dear friend.
