Jimmy Cathcart was a household name in my family. My dad, Weems Baskin, was the track coach at USC during Jimmy's era, and I will never forget that win over Dave Sime. I used that story many times over the years when I was encouraging my students to always reach for what might seem impossible. Jimmy set a great example for all of us in every aspect of his life.
My sincere condolences to his family and those who loved him.
