Jack Mace Obituary

1923 – 2013

Jack Roy Mace, age 89 of Santa Clarita, CA passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. He was born in October 1923 in East Cleveland, OH. Jack moved from Ohio and had resided in Newhall, CA for the last 42 years.

Jack attended Southern Methodist University, Kent State University, Bowling Green University, and Columbia University in New York. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed for many years as a salesman on the East Coast for Dupont and was a realtor for Realty Executives. Jack spent 23 years in the U.S. Navy as a pilot, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was very active in the Masons.

Family was very important to Jack. He endured and sacrificed a great deal for his love of family. Jack stayed true to the Masonic beliefs and had high moral values which he instilled in his children as well. Holidays were always special, his love of family very apparent in everything he did. He was a very "hands on" guy, sharing his love of the outdoors by taking his family on many camping trips, where he showed his love of all God's creatures.

Jack leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Bertha Martha Mace; his son, Jack R. Mace Jr.; his daughter, Judith Anne Stewart; his son, Michael Mace; his daughter, Lisette Browning; his son, George R. Mace; his son, Richard (Heidi) Mace.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary, 23287 N. Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321. Services will be held on Friday, March 29, at 1:00 p.m. in Eternal Valley Chapel of the Hills.

Jack was a hardworking and loving man, and he will be deeply missed.

I first met Jack when I lived in Calif. and was working in the Real Estate industry with my wife Becki. I always thought Jack was a really great guy. He spoke from his heart and I loved hearing all his great stories when he was in the Navy. I found it very intriguing that he trained on a Stearman. What a great plane that was. We often would discuss politics - He was a true Patriot who loved and defended his country. He spoke admirably about his family often. He was a fine example of a true American. I'll miss him dearly - God Bless his family. James LaCroix

From the first day I met Jack in the Real Estate Ofc. I knew he was a Man of Integrity. When he walked into a room he walked in Proud. His love for his Family and his Country always came first. And he spoke about them often. Jack was A REAL MAN - The type of man we use to watch in the Old Hollywood Classic Movies. They don't make them like Jack anymore - I will always remember him fondly and when I do...I will smile. Love you Jack!!! Sincerely, Becki LaCroix

Jack, I enjoyed working with you and being your friend. We exchanged Christmas cards all the years that were between the time I left until last year. You will always remain fondly in my memory. Fondly, Mary

Rest in Peace, Jack. Your cheerful presence at office meetings was always fun. After your retirement you returned for a meeting now and then. Always a treat to see you again. You are an all around lovely man. We will miss you. God speed Jack.
