Hilly Garrett Obituary
Hilly retired from his position as a cabinet maker for the Berkeley County Department of Education. He was a devoted member of St. George Church of God, where he faithfully served on the pastoral council. His hobbies included fishing, coon hunting, and caring for his beloved chickens and peacocks. Hilly also had a passion for tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. He enjoyed watching NASCAR-especially when Dale Earnhardt raced-and cheered on the Carolina Gamecocks and Pittsburgh Steelers during football season. He cherished traveling with his wife to the mountains of North Carolina, taking yearly trips to Myrtle Beach, and occasionally going on cruises.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Benton Garrett; two daughters, Glenda Gail Garrett of New Hope and Rev. Debra James (Rev. Michael) of Moncks Corner; a son, Rev. Norman Dale Garrett (Rev. Kristen) of St. George; two brothers, Lewis Garrett of Moncks Corner and Frank Garrett (Geraldine) of Macedonia; six grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held 2:00 PM Monday afternoon, February 9, 2026, in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Interment will follow in the Hickory Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 PM until the hour of service on Monday.

Hilly's kindness, warmth, and love for his family and community will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
