Gwendolyn Strickland Obituary

Gwendolyn F. Strickland Mt. Pleasant - Gwendolyn F. Strickland, 86, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 2, 2016. A celebration of her life will take place on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 2:30 pm at Hibben United Methodist Church, 690 Coleman Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Gwendolyn was born July 19, 1929 in Reinbeck, Iowa, daughter of the late Ralph Elmer (Hap) Roberts and the late Muriel (Short) Shoemaker Roberts. Gwen graduated from Everly High School and worked as a bookkeeper most of her life. As a devoted member of First Baptist Church Mt. Pleasant, she enjoyed all church activities including Sunday school, Billy Graham phone ministry, retreats and most especially singing in the choir. She loved spending time with family and friends, dancing and attending Mt. Pleasant Senior Center and Respite Care of Charleston. She is survived by children, Kathy Lanclos (Lafayette, LA), David Kenyon and Karen Roberts (Mt. Pleasant, SC); siblings, Myrt Boyles and Jerry Roberts (Spencer, IA); 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by children, Bobby Kenyon and LeAnn Cummings. The family would like to thank Cortney Botto, Laurie Ann Patrick and all the staff at Sandpiper Nursing Center for their tender love and care provided to our GG.
