I was sad to hear that Greg had passed away. He was truely a man that you could trust and depend on. There has been several occassions growing up as a young man, where Greg was there for me. He was always willing to help someone, and would never ask for anything in return. My thoughts go out to his family.

I am truly saddened by the loss of Greg. I worked very closely with Greg on the Charleston County Police Department many years ago. Our careers grew together. Greg was a "stand-up guy", one you could depend on anytime day or night. This world is a lesser place without Greg. I know he had a tremendous positive impact on many lives.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Gregs passing. He was one of the first police officers I met when I first moved to Charleston in 1975 to work as a Public Defender. We had many cases together, and I always admired his professionalism and compassion. We were on opposing sides for all those years, but I still considered him as a friend and a dedicated public servant. His loss will be felt for a long time.

Ivey, Bill and I were so shocked and saddened to learn of Greg's passing. Our hearts are broken for you and your family. Please know you are in our prayers daily that God will bring you comfort and strength in the coming days.

Dear Ivey, Mark and Vicki,
Greg was a great man! And my heart was broken to hear the news. He made my 40th birthday one I will never forget! His heart and compassion came from his loving family I know. He was a wonderful father image and loved and respected very much by Nate and Abbi. Nate said, hello and sends his love and prayers.(he lives in NC). Abbi was shocked also, and feels the same. He was like family to us.
We feel very blessed to have known him. And all of you too.
Much love,
Tina, Nate and Abbi

Greg made alot of friends during his short life span but he is with a better friend right now than he ever had on Earth. Rest in Peace Buddy.

I grew up two doors down from Greg and oh how envious us younger guys were of his tricked out Chevelle. Throughout the years, we have remained friends, our paths crossing both professionally and socially, the later years involving our passion for motorcycles. Greg was a good man, a good son, a good police officer and a good friend. Like most, I will miss him terribly.

I was shocked when I recieved the phone call Saturday of Greg's passing. I have known him for more than 25 years and we regularly ran into each other during the lunch hour in different restaurants in Mt. Pleasant. He was always with a group of his friends, and you could always hear his distinctive laugh over everyone, wherever he was. RIP Bud.

In 1975, I met this man when I was a rookie cop and assigned to work the East Cooper area. Boy was I lost. Over the next 25 years we became very good friends and partners, in Patrol, Narcotics/ Vice, and the Detective Office. We were both eventually promoted and began sharing supervisory responsibilities. We were dubbed the "sumu" brothers, because of our size. Since his retirement we have not visited each other very much, but we recently reconnected and were spending more time together. What a shock to hears this news. I will miss him immensly.

My condolences to the family for their loss. While there was always a line drawn between police and the press, Greg always treated me well and in the context of mutual respect. We also had motorcycles in common, so I hope he's on that great eternal ride.
