George Joseph Wood GOOSE CREEK - George Joseph Wood, 71, of Goose Creek, husband of Mary Jo Murray, died Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Trident Medical Center. Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Friday, April 16, 2010, at 2 o'clock, at Knightsville United Methodist Church, 1505 Central Ave., Summerville. The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life reception at their residence, 131 Mayfield Drive, Goose Creek, on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Rd., Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406. Mr. Wood was born November 13, 1938, in Fresno, CA, son of the late Marion Joseph and Anna Josephine Wood. He was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Vietnam War. Until the time of his death he enjoyed working as a mechanic for Firestone Tire Co and was an avid Nascar enthusiast. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Mary Jo, are three sons, Michael Wood (Melinda) and Jeffery Wood (Christine) both of Summerville, and Jordan Brock of Goose Creek, four daughters, Linda White (Christopher) of Santa Rosa, CA, Kathy Davis (Ron) of Vancouver, WA, Natalie Shaw (Dylan) of Goose Creek and Tiffany Cox of Summerville, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
