Frederick Steven Johnson MEGGETT, SC - Frederick Steven Johnson, devoted husband, father and Papa, passed peacefully from this earth at home on January 24, 2025 in Meggett, South Carolina. He was 71 years old. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 in Bethel United Methodist Church, 57 Pitt Street, Charleston, SC 29401 at 1:00 pm with a private graveside service in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street from 4 pm until 6 pm. Steve was born in Charleston, South Carolina on December 3, 1953 to the late George Arthur Ziozias Johnson, Jr. and Estelle Ohlandt Johnson Lassiter. He attended College Preparatory School and graduated from the College of Charleston in 1977. He married his high school sweetheart the same year, the late Darlene Antalis Johnson, and was married for 43 loving years until she preceded him in death in 2020. He was a registered professional land surveyor and was the president of George A.Z. Johnson, Jr., Inc. Steve was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church and Christ-St. Pauls Anglican Church. His family was dear and precious to him, and his presence and kindness will be missed by all whose lives he touched. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to his animals, and spending time on the water. He spent many hours cooking for his family and imparting his wisdom to his children and grandchildren. Steve is survived by his three children: his sons, Frederick Steven Johnson, Jr. (Erin) and Michael Ziozias Johnson (Sarah) both of Meggett, SC; his daughter, Stephanie Johnson Sanders (Seth) of Clemson, SC; his six grandchildren: Emma Marie Sanders, William James Sanders, Scarlett Elizabeth Johnson, Frederick Steven Johnson III, George Arthur Ziozias Johnson IV, and Jude Pratt Johnson; his siblings: Estelle Ohlandt Johnson Dukes, George Arthur Ziozias Johnson III (Patty), and Margaret Irene Johnson Archambault (Ricky); his uncles, Deidrich Henry Ohlandt (Beth), and Edward Vest; and many nieces and nephews. Dear Steve and Darlene's family, you were our neighbors on Folly for many years and you were so good to my parents Frank and Peggy. Mom often said how much she enjoyed watching the 3 of you growing up as it reminded her of us 3 swimming, fishing hunting, etc. And your love and generosity and hospitality was overflowing. Our family loved yours. I am so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. The only consolation I have is that he and Darlene are reunited and their love was so strong for one another. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers! love Kathy Heinsohn

Remembering you fondly, Uncle Steve. I always think back on my first real South Carolina Thanksgiving with warm memories. When you told me my pecan pie was good enough for the South, I felt honored! Thank you to you and Darlene for your kindness and generosity over the years. We will miss you.
