I had the honor of meeting Mother Gethers when Bethany was at the Baptist Center. She always had a good word for you. Her and my husband Dan had a saying " Are you still holding on." Her work on earth is done. Her life crown has been won. Now she shall be at rest with him above. And some glad morning she will welcome us to that eternal home of peace and love. She will be greatly missed.

I will truly miss Sis. Gethers. I met this wonderful lady when I came to Charleston in the late 1970's. She had a warm spirit and treated every child as if they were her own. Sis Gethers did not ask me to teach Sunday School, she told me that I was to teach the Primary and Beginners Class. I have taught this class for at least 15 years. I will always have a warm spot in my heart for Sis Gethers.

Aunt Evon, you have been a Christian Soldier, a role model, and a lady for the forty years of my life. I thank God for your love and your shining example of Christianhood. I am especially grateful for they way you loved my Grandmother so well. I will always love you for that. I know that you both are walking around Heaven right now. Oh God! I know that Uncle Chris is the happiest man in heaven! Welcome Home Aunt Evon... sit down servant and rest a little while.

Mother Gethers will always be remembered, I also hold fond memories of her in my heart.
As a child, I truly loved to see her praise the Lord.
She was fulll of joy unspeakable. I often looked on wondering... why? she seemed so happy, who is this Jesus that she sings and dances for..... ;o)
Truly I can now understand and relate with Mother Gethers.
Her life was a testimony to the Glory of the Lord ! !
