Ernest Meyers Obituary



MEYERS, Ernest Ernest William Meyers, 80, St. Augustine, FL, formerly of Charleston, died January 6, 2008 at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine. He was born in Bronx, NY and had resided in Charleston since 1966 before moving to St. Augustine in 2004. He served in the U.S. Navy for 32 years, a veteran of WW II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam, before retiring. After retiring from the Navy he worked as a receiving manager at K-Mart for 14 years and then for Wal-Mart for 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Fleet Reserve, and a member of the Cathedral Parish of St. Augustine. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday January 8, 2008 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Timothy Lozier, pastor, officiating. Interment services with military honors will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday January 9, 2008 at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Charleston, SC. Flowers are gratefully accepted or those wishing may make a contribution in his memory to your favorite charity. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fran Meyers. He is survived by his daughter, Jan Stevens-Casto(Michael), St. Augustine; two sons, David Cargile(Linda) and Tommy Cargile, Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren, Patrick, Amy, Matthew(Candice), Kelli, Christy, Heather, Jason, Josh, Christian, Tyler; and 5 great-grandchildren, Caden, Lyla, Taylor, McKenna and Mason; one nephew, Leo Dubois, Ron Kon Komo, NY; and one niece, Dorothy Hamer, Oklahoma.
