Ms. Emmie,
I will always hold fond memories of you in my heart, as you always made me feel welcome in your home. You were always a kind and gentle spirit, and now you are home with The Lord. We will miss you here, but you are in a better place.

My prayers and thoughts are with you all at this time of your lost. Emmie was a person who help to raise a village, she was a mother who you gave respect even if you were not her child, she kept many of us girls straight in our youth as well as in our adulthood as women, she would never pass you by without speaking. Your mother will be missed but never forgotten. May God continue to keep all of you in his care as I will keep you in my prayers.

What a sweet spirit! Emmie has been a neighbor of ours for more than 50 years and throughout that time she has done nothing but give of herself. Seaside Lane is a better place because she took the time to know, love and feed all of us. Her house was our house, when she had-we had, and when she cooked-all of us ate. All the neighborhood children owe this lady a debt of gratitude in that she cared deeply for us. To her children, who graciously shared her with us, may God continue to bless each of you--------------------------------"that where I am, there ye may be also."

A Reminiscence

YES, thou art gone! and never more
Thy sunny smile shall gladden me;
But I may pass the old church door,
And pace the floor that covers thee.

May stand upon the cold, damp stone,
And think that, frozen, lies below
The lightest heart that I have known,
The kindest I shall ever know.

Yet, though I cannot see thee more,
'Tis still a comfort to have seen;
And though thy transient life is o'er,
'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;

To think a soul so near divine,
Within a form so angel fair,
United to a heart like thine,
Has gladdened once our humble sphere.
