Ellison Johnson Obituary



JOHNSON, Jr., E. Capers Ellison Capers Johnson, Jr., a resident of Keller, Texas, passed away at home on June 7, 2007 with his wife of 45 years at his side. He was born, May 27, 1937 in Charleston, S.C., the son of the late Cdr. Ellison Capers and Margaret (Mikell) Johnson. Survivors include his wife Ruby (Price) of Keller, Texas, daughter Heather Mikell Johnson Path, son-in-law Thorsten Path; grandson, Carsten Nicholas Path, of Weaverville, N.C., daughter Anne Stuckey Johnson of Keller, Texas, sister Beverly Ammons, Moncks Corner, S.C. and several nieces and nephews. Capers , as he was known, graduated from Moultrie High School, Mt. Pleasant, S.C., The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee with a BA degree and Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, Tennessee with a Master of Education. An educator and then a sales manager, he had been retired for several years. A loving husband and father, he enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening, and football. He was past-president of Toastmasters International and a past Sergeant of Arms for the Columbia Toastmasters Club. He was a volunteer for the American Diabetes Association, March of Dimes, and Arthritis Foundation. His military duty was in the Naval Reserves with an honorable discharge 1962. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. A memorial Service will be held at 2pm on July 7, 2007 in Christ Episcopal Church with interment at the graveside. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, The Kidney Foundation, or to the Salvation Army. I worked with Capers in Columbia at Bob Capes Realty and always enjoyed his sense of humor and his special friendship. My sincere condolences to Ruby and the girls.

Capers was a non-judgemental person. He could always see the good and uniqueness of others.His kindness and sense of humor, even when he was suffering was noticed by all. He maintained his independence until the last.
I shall always remember him.
