Ellen Nagy Obituary

NAGY – Ellen Jane (Kearney), 78, Portage, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 30, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 9, 1930, in Lilly, daughter of Albert P. Sr. and Agnes Catherine (Robine) Kearney. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Edward R. “Bob” Nagy Sr., who died April 2, 1994; brothers, Faber, Michael and Albert P. Kearney Jr.; and sister, Marie George. Survived by children, Susan, wife of Noel Hanrahan, Southport, N.C.; Edward Robert Nagy Jr., married to the former Marie Dunmire, Hastings; Rick Nagy, married to the former Connie Garis, Portage; Dr. Donald Nagy, married to the former Suzanne Stager, and Thomas Nagy, married to the former Wendy Jo Beadling, both of Ebensburg; also 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sister of Rose Agnes Richardson, Cresson; Charles Kearney, Williamsport, Md; Robert Kearney, Lilly; Thelma J. Kodosky, Lilly; and Gail Broniak, Kodak, Tenn. Jane was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Portage, where she was a member of the choir and a eucharistic minister. She was an avid music lover and enjoyed crocheting and being a homemaker. Over the years, she was employed by Quaker Markets, Jamesway and WWML Radio. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife and sister. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mark A. Serenko Funeral Home, Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, Father Walter Moll, celebrant. Committal in St. Brigid’s Cemetery, Lilly. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Alzheimers Association, People Helping People of St. Joseph Church or Portage Food Pantry.
