Elizabeth White Obituary

Elizabeth McCroskey White LEXINGTON, SC - Elizabeth McCroskey White passed away April 1, 2025 at the age of 84 in her room at the Presbyterian Community of Lexington, SC. She was born February 13, 1941 to William Floyd McCroskey and Rosalis Kibbe McCroskey in Corpus Christi, Texas. She attended Randolph Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, Virginia for two years. She transferred to the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated in 1963 with a degree in Latin American Studies. She moved to Charleston, South Carolina in 1965, where she lived most of her adult life. She received an M.Ed. in Counseling from The Citadel in 1979. She worked for thirty years as the Human Resources Manager for Evans Rule Company, a division of the L.S. Starrett Company. She retired in 2008. Elizabeth, known as Betty to most of her family and friends, was committed to serving God in her church and in the community. She was a Deacon and Elder at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, where she also served as Chairperson of the church Flower Committee, the World Mission Committee and Circle #6 (Seekers Circle), and was Moderator of the Presbyterian Women. She received the Presbyterian Women's Honorary Life Membership in 2016. She was Moderator of the Presbyterian Cursillo #30 and was Chairperson of Cursillo Council. Betty served as Chairperson of the Tri-County Industrial Relations Committee, the Mayor's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped, and the Phi Beta Phi Alumna Group. She served on the Boards of the YWCA, the Junior League of Charleston, the Garden Club of Charleston, and was President of the Creekside Homeowners Association. She was listed in Who's Who in the South and Southwest (1982-1983). Betty is survived by her two children, David White (Rene) of Columbia, South Carolina, and Kathie Harper (Jim) of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is survived by grandchildren, David and William White, Elizabeth, James and John Harper. She is also survived by four nieces, two nephews and many friends. She is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Joan McCroskey Priday of Ingleside, Texas. A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Community of Lexington, 700 Davega Drive, Lexington, South Carolina, 29073 on Saturday, April 12. Visitation 10:00-11:00 and service at 11:00. A graveside service will be held at Seaside Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas, on a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seekers Circle #6 at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting St, Charleston, SC 29401 or to The National Cursillo Center, P.O.
