I can't believe that it's been just one year since my dear Aunt Edna went to be with Uncle John, Mark, Daddy, Mama, Beachie, Mama Mae and Sis. She loved them all so very much, and we all loved her completely. She was THE lady of the family - always perfect, always elegant, always caring, and with a smile that could light up the darkest room, and a laugh that would cure any case of the blues. It was always a thrill for me growing up to go to John & Edna's, or to see them pull up in our driveway. As an adult, whenever I came home for a visit, I always made a point of going over to see John & Edna just to say hello and let them know how much I loved them. John and Edna welcomed my husband, Robert, into the family with open arms and loved telling him stories about me as a kid. Mama told me about her and Edna living with Mama and Daddy Beach and Sis while Daddy and Uncle John were overseas in World War II, and that they taught Mama how to cook - especially how to fry chicken, and Daddy told me how Edna would make her famous Cheddar Cheese Shrimp and Grits every year for his birthday, served in a Silver Chafing Dish with her biscuits. She was never called a "step" sister by Daddy or Beachie. She was there beautiful baby sister that they were so proud of. Uncle John told me when he was courting Edna, he had to "pass muster" with Daddy first, before he could ask Daddy Beach for permission to marry her! Uncle John said that he was always grateful to Daddy for letting him marry Aunt Edna. All of us nieces and nephews are grateful to God for letting us have Edna Beach Orvin in our family and our lives. God bless you, dear Aunt Edna.

To The Orvin Family:
I knew Edna and John many years through Arthur Murray Dance Studio and considered them wonderful friends. Edna was the absolute "Southern Lady" and John "Debonaire Gentleman they were a lovely couple. Know friends share in your grief and send love and prayers to all of you in the sad days ahead.
Keep your memories close as you go through the days ahead and as already stated she and John are now together forever in Heaven with other family and friends. My heartfelt sympathy.

I didn't think my heart could be broken again, but loosing my dear sweet loving Aunt Edna has done it. I know that she is in heaven, holding Mark on her lap and being in Uncle John's embrace once again. There will never be another Edna Beach Orvin. She was the Ultimate and Perfect example of exactly what a woman, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend should be. I never saw or heard her raise her voice in my life. She was perfection from her home, to her Roses, to her knowledge of just what was the right thing to do, to the width and depth of the love that she gave so freely to anyone smart enough to accept it. All I can say is I LOVE YOU AUNT EDNA FROM NOW UNTIL FOREVER.
