Clair Orvin Obituary

Clair Orvin PINOPOLIS, SC - Clair Tatum Orvin, 75, of Pinopolis, South Carolina, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 11, 1950, he was the son of the late Gladys Tatum Niederhof and St. Clair Orvin of Moncks Corner. Born and raised in Moncks Corner, Clair carried a deep love for his hometown throughout his life. Clair was a 1969 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School in Columbia, where he was honored by his classmates as Best All-Around. He went on to earn his degree from Newberry College in 1974, where he was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Order. Active in his community, Clair was a dedicated member of the Moncks Corner Jaycees and was honored as a JCI State Senator. He was part owner of Orvin's Furniture Store and Orvin's Piggly Wiggly, continuing the tradition of family business and service to the Moncks Corner community. Clair was also a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner, where he faithfully served as both elder and deacon. Clair is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Davis Orvin; his children, Carson Tatum Orvin and his wife, Lauren Orvin, and Codi Orvin Rodgers and her husband, Caleb Rodgers; his cherished grandchildren, Riley Orvin, Charlotte Rodgers, Seth Orvin, Caison Rodgers, and Collins Rodgers; and his brother, Baxter Orvin, and his wife, Betty Orvin. He was predeceased by his sister, Jenifer Orvin Gregg. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Bristol Hospice, Wildcat Memory Care, and his physicians, Dr. Adams and Dr. Stickler, for their compassion, care, and support. Clair will be remembered for his love of sailing, shag dancing, and his gift for bringing joy and laughter as the life of every gathering. His warmth, spirit, and devotion to his family and community will be deeply missed. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner, 419 West Main Street, Moncks Corner, SC 29461. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 7th at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner.
