Dudley Gore Obituary

GORE, Pete CONWAY - Dudley L. "Pete" Gore, Sr., age 86, husband of Evalyn Gordon Gore, of Oconee Avenue, died Friday, November 4, 2005 at Conway Medical Center. Mr. Gore was born November 5, 1918 in Tabor City, NC, a son of the late Henry Tanner and Roxie Wiggins Gore. Pete became a Master Mason when he joined the Conway Masonic Lodge # 65. He was a member of the York Rite Bodies of the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a member of Charleston Court No. 113, Royal Order of Jesters, and a past President of the Myrtle Beach Shrine Club. He was an active member of the Waccamaw, Berkeley, Dorchester, Pee Dee, and Myrtle Beach Shrine Clubs and was an honorary member of many other Shrine Clubs. In 1985, Pete served as Executive Officer, Potentate, of Omar Shrine Temple in Charleston, SC, consisting of over 6000 Shriners. In 1990, he was elected and served as President of the South Atlantic Shrine Association, covering 6 states and 17 Shrine Temples, with a membership of over 79,000. He was a past member of the Rotary Club and Moose Lodge. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. and was a Conway member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks. Pete was an avid golfer, but his declining health prevented him from playing in the past several years. Mr. Gore was a member of First Baptist Church in Conway where he was a member of the Angler B Sunday School Class. He was owner and operator of Gore Style and Barber Center at Coastal Mall. Mr. Gore was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Surviving in addition to his wife of Conway are, one son, Dudley L. "Pete" Gore, Jr. and his wife, Hazel of Indian Trail, NC, 2 grandchildren, John Dudley Gore and his wife, Pam and Michelle Gore Smith and her husband, Brandon all of Monroe, NC, 3 great-grandchildren, one sister, Ruby Gore Smith of Wilmington, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday from Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. Bill Bagnal officiating. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
