I was looking through some old documents, and photos from Tuskegee Institute, circa. 1963-64, Track and Field meets, and came across the name of one of our track stars, we called "Speedy", at the time known as Doris Wrighten. Now, 55 years later, I googled her name and sadly see she has passed. The photo looks exactly as I would picture her as an mature adult. I am simply wondering if my assumptions are correct, and this is the same Doris Wrighten that I knew in Tuskegee, during the 60's. Any family members that can acknowledge my inquiry, wondering if this is the same person, would be greatly appreciated. I lived in Central Europe for 36 years of my 42 year employment with the Department of Defense, and lost touch with many old friends. I can be reached at [email protected] or 915 471 5060, in El Paso, Texas, thank you kindly.

I miss her daily. She loved to laugh and totally enjiyed her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. A true friend to many. An awesome poet and public speaker. To me a great sister who named me. I will always be greatful for the gifts that she gave me.

My sister was my second mother. It was tragic that she left right behind our mother. None of us had the opportunity to say good-bye for she was gone. We all will cherish all of the great moments in her life and the moments that she shared with us. I will always love and carry her in my heart for she is always with me.
Doris, I love you and miss you dearly. You know Von and I tried to call you today.
