Donald John Fadel

Mount Pleasant - Donald John Fadel, 89, of Mount Pleasant, SC passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, surrounded by many loving family members. He was born on December 22, 1936, in Valhalla, New York.

Don was a first-generation Italian American, the son of Peter and Celia DeNadi Fadel and grew up in Elmsford, NY. He attended Alexander Hamilton High School and later graduated from Iona College in 1966. Don was an excellent athlete and was an all-conference quarterback for his high school football team.

He worked for 31 years for IBM Corporation in marketing in Manhattan and White Plains, New York, Atlanta, Georgia and finally in Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon retirement from IBM, he owned and ran a successful home construction and remodeling business in Charlotte for over 20 years. He and Laura moved to the Isle of Palms, SC in 2018 after living in southeast Charlotte for over 35 years.

He married Laura-Ann Liska on August 3, 1957, and they shared over 68 years of marriage. He was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Charlotte for many years. "Papa" enjoyed woodworking and produced many family heirlooms such as clocks, tables, jewelry boxes and cabinets. He also enjoyed vintage motorcycles and cars, (once owning a 1938 Harley-Davidson and a 1963 Porsche 356), dancing, sailing and travel but most of all, he loved time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife Laura-Ann Fadel; his sister: Nancy Whitman (Steve) of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; (3) children: Donald J. Fadel Jr. of Atlantic Beach, Florida, Dawn Fadel Parrott (Burk) of Isle of Palms, South Carolina and Lauren Fadel Scott (Ben) of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; (10) grandchildren: Kristin Schade (Rodger), Donnie Fadel (Courtney), Natalie Fadel, Trey Parrott (Meredith), Tyler Parrott (Leah), Laura-Brook Parrott (Ryan), Celia-Dawn Scott, Benjamin Scott, Ramsey Scott (Kavi) and Chelsea Keyes (Peter), and 13 great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Col. Richard Fadel; and many aunts, uncles and cousins from the large Italian families he grew up with in New York.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 10, 2026, at 10:30am at Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Christ Our King Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.

The family thanks the many nurses and Hospice caregivers for their compassionate care they gave to Papa during his illness.
