My own life was richer for having known Don, if even for a brief period. He was one of the most interesting men I've ever known, highly learned and able to discourse at length on a wide variety of topics. I especially enjoyed talking history with him. Losing him was a blow that will reverberate through the years ahead but I am glad to have known him even for a fleeting moment in time.
