Charleston - Diane S. Vandepoel, 77, ofCharleston, SC, passed away onDecember 31,2025, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. A private memorial is planned.
Diane was born inWareham, Mass, on March 9, 1948, to John and Pauline Hambelton. She worked as an elementary public school teacher in Newark, NJ, then as a computer programmer for Volkswagen of America in New York, New Hampshire Ball Bearing in New Hampshire, and CSC in South Carolina.
Dianeis survived byher spouse, Paul Vandepoel, her daughters Danielle VandePoel and Lani P. Hedler, their spouses David Carter and Ernest Hedler, grandchild Oliver M. Carter, sisters Martha Sanders (spouse Ron Sanders), Mary Spear, Janice Fitzgerald, Debora Walsh (spous, Stephen Walsh), and brothers Michael Hambelton (spouse Debbie Hambelton), David Hambelton, Roy Hambelton (spouse Jennie Hambelton) and other family and friends.
Diane was a devoted wife and mother. She cared fiercely for her loved ones and was generous with her time and affection. Diane loved to swim, read, and travel with her family. She will be deeply missed.
