Deborah Weathers Obituary

Deborah "Debbie" Rhoad Weathers FOLLY BEACH - Deborah "Debbie" Rhoad Weathers, 51, entered into eternal rest on Saturday afternoon, September 1, 2012 at her residence on Folly Beach, SC. She was the wife of Darus "Darrell" Weathers, Jr. She was born on December 29, 1960 in Charleston, SC. She graduated in 1979 from Berkeley High School in Moncks Corner, SC within the college preparatory/honors track. She was a former employee at Dupont (Cypress Gardens) for over 10 years becoming certified and trained as a First Responder for their Emergency Safety Team at Dupont. She was a hard worker and enjoyed her job and time while employed, but she made a conscious choice to become a stay-at-home mother and homemaker to her children and husband. She loved the beach, the mountains, reading, traveling, attending concerts, and gardening. In her youth, she enjoyed water skiing and in her twenties snow skiing. She was a bus driver in high school for Berkeley County Schools. She won the Miss Flame Beauty Pageant title at Pimlico Fire Department her junior year in high school, and competed at the Regional Pageant contest at the Gaillard Auditorium. She was also a dancer from the age of three until age fifteen under the Virginia Nuss School of Dance and The Cecilia Vaughn School of Dance in Charleston, where she excelled in ballet, tap, toe, and jazz, and participated in many local dance recitals around the Charleston area. Debbie had been disabled due to chronic back problems and had undergone numerous back surgeries as well as a chronic respiratory condition that made it difficult for her to do the things she enjoyed most in life. She loved her children and family immensely and wanted the absolute best for everyone. She was especially proud of her daughter, Lauren, pursuing her masters in psychology at Western Kentucky University, her son Brooks, and wife Tina, and their children, and her son, Trey, majoring in Environmental Studies at Trident Technical College. She is survived by her husband, Darrell D. Weathers, and three children, Steven "Brooks" Grooms and his wife, Tina, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lauren N. Weathers of Bowling Green, KY (Folly Beach), and Darus "Trey" Weathers III of Folly Beach, SC. She is also survived by her parents, Brenda and Gene Rhoad of Charleston, SC, brothers, Rodney "Rocky" Rhoad of Seattle, WA, and Kevin "Shawn" Rhoad of Charleston, SC, and her grandchildren, Stephanie, Robbie, and Brooke Grooms of Myrtle Beach, SC. She was preceded in death by her grandparents (maternal) Ottie "Steve" and Mary "Dot" Stevens and (paternal) Richard "Dick" and Evelyn S. Rhoad. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. Debbie will be extremely missed by her family, especially her children. Her memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Dear Brenda, Gene,Darrell and Children,
I received the sad news today via relatives in Charleston. I reside in NC now. I was so fortunate to have taught dancing and to have touched the lives of so many young children. Debbie loved to dance and I am sure that the music contributed to her happy childhood. Her picture shows what a beautiful young woman she was. I am sure that beside her family, she has touched many lives and gave them much joy. I pray that the Holy Spirit will give you strength and peace during this difficult time.

To my Big Sister, Debbie:
May you soar above us from Heaven, free as a bird, watching over your family as a gurdian angel. Your smile, laughter, and natural beauty shall live on in the minds and hearts of those who loved you most. Your love and devotion for your family, especially your children and grand child will not be forgotten. You are at peace now and have moved on to a much better place to be with your grandparents in Heaven. My love for you will live on in my heart and mind until I die. The memories of you and our bond as sister and brother will be cherished by me for the rest of my life. You will always be my "Big Sis", and I was so honored and thankful to have you as such. I'll miss our "True Blood" and "Sookie Stackhouse" discussions, but most of all, I'm gonna miss you and your spark. Rest well my loving sister, and I hope to see you again someday when my time comes. Say hello to our grandparents, and enjoy your new utopia. Sincerely and lovingly your little brother.

Darrell and family - No words to say how shocked and saddened we were to read that you lost Debbie. We still miss having you 'across the creek' and now more so, that Debbie is gone - way too soon. We know how much she was loved by her family and know you all will miss her terribly. We are so sorry. Keeping you in our prayers during this most painful and difficult time. Bob and Carol
