David Wolfensberger Obituary

David Wolfensberger MT. PLEASANT - David Ernest Wolfensberger passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024 at his home in Mount Pleasant, SC. Born January 30, 1946 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Glenn Wolfensberger and Doris (Shirley) Wolfensberger. He was a 1964 graduate of Boonsboro Senior High School in Boonsboro, MD. David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bernice Ann (Jones) Wolfensberger; one daughter - Karen Evanosky, and her husband, Fred, of Mount Pleasant, SC; three granddaughters - Megan Bradham, and her husband, David, of Fletcher, NC, and Emily Evanosky and Erin Evanosky of Mount Pleasant, SC; one great-granddaughter - Charlotte Bradham of Fletcher, NC; and one brother- Mark Wolfensberger, and his wife, Rose, of Hagerstown, MD. David enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam first aboard the USS New London County (LST 1066) in 1966. From 1968 through 1969, David served as a river patrol boat gunner's mate in Cua Viet, Vietnam near the DMZ. He earned the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and Navy Commendation Medal for meritorious achievement. Following 30 years of employment, David retired in 2008 as a machinist at Grove Worldwide in Shady Grove, PA. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Isle of Palms, SC, and proudly participated in their All Comers Sunday School Class and Men's Club. He also regularly attended the Men's Prayer Breakfast at Sunrise Presbyterian Church in Sullivan's Island, SC. Always hard working, David enjoyed tinkering in his garage workshop where he built furniture and repaired/rebuilt/recreated items for his family and friends. David was preceded in death by his young granddaughter, Madison Evanosky, in 2003, and his brother, Wayne Wolfensberger, in 2022. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of David's Life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 12th, at First United Methodist Church, 12 21st Avenue, Isle of Palms, SC 29451.
